VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH is an organisation set-up by two of the largest European professional associations for engineers (VDI = Association of German Engineers and VDE = Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies). The company’s primary objective is to promote R&D by developing instruments and initiatives for accelerating technological development and industrialisation. VDI/VDE-IT is closely involved in the design and responsible for the implementation and management of R&D and innovation support programmes launched by national and regional governments. At the European level, VDI/VDE-IT is the office of the European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration (EPoSS). VDI/VDE-IT has been active in European research and development projects related to electric mobility, connected and automated driving as well as mobility solutions (e.g. in projects like SCOUT, CARTRE, MOBILITY4EU). User-centric approaches have been one focus point within these projects as well as strategy building. VDI/VDE-IT is involved and moderates strategy processes on the European level in the field of future mobility, microsystems and vehicle electronics research for several years. Main activities in this context were monitoring of R&D trends, development of strategies and roadmaps taking into account multiple dimensions of technology development considering technical, economic, social, ethical, legal and human factors.

Within INDIMO project VDI/VDE-IT is mainly responsible for building up and organising the Co-Creation Community. Furthermore this partner conducts five co-creation workshops that contribute substantially to the development of the  Inclusive Digital Mobility Toolbox. VDI/VDE-IT also provides its technological expertise to the policy recommendations and to the user requirement analysis.
